GastroApp manual
Floor and kitchen display
Rooms and tables, orders taken on the phone, tickets on the kitchen screen and sold-out dishes.
Step 1. Switch the modules on. The owner (or the head chef, if allowed) opens Modules and turns on Floor and, for the kitchen screen, Kitchen display (it needs Floor). They are in beta and start switched off.
Step 2. The owner sets up the rooms: open Floor, tab Rooms and tables. Type a name in New room (Dining room, Terrace, Bar…) and press Add room. There is no limit on rooms.
Step 3. Add the tables of each room: type the Table name, the Seats and press Add table. Drag a table on the plan to place it where it is in the room; tap it to edit.
Step 4. Build the sale menu in the tab Sale menu. Use Add from recipes to bring in dishes you already have: they show their allergens automatically. For drinks and sides type the name and price under New item (a drink, a side…) and press Add.
Set the course (starter, main, dessert) of each dish so the waiter can send the table course by course.
Step 5. Create the waiters in Users with the role WAITER (server). They sign in with email and password and see only Floor, Staff and Bar.
Step 6. Take an order: in the tab Service tap a free table, enter the Guests, search the menu and tap Add. Use Note for the kitchen (no onion, well done…) for requests such as no onion. Allergens come from the recipe: always confirm with the guest.
Step 7. Send it to the kitchen with Send course 1 (or Send to kitchen (3)). From then on the table shows the dishes as In the kitchen.
Step 8. In the kitchen open Kitchen display. Each ticket shows the table, the guests and the minutes since it was sent; the bar on top turns amber and then red as it waits. Choose a station with the buttons at the top, or All stations.
The screen refreshes by itself every few seconds. A tablet on the pass works well.
Step 9. Tap Ready on a dish when it can be collected (or All ready for the ticket). The waiter sees “ready to collect” on the table in Floor. When it is delivered tap Served; Undo brings it back.
Step 10. Out of a dish? Press Sold out (86) and tap it. Waiters see it as sold out at once.
Step 11. When the guests ask for the bill press Bill requested. GastroApp does not charge or issue receipts: the bill is rung up in your own till. Then Free the table. You can also use Move to a free table or Merge into another table.
Frequently asked questions
Does GastroApp charge the guests?
No. Floor takes the order and sends it to the kitchen; payment and receipts stay in your own till.
A waiter cannot change rooms or tables.
Only the owner sets up rooms and tables. Waiters take orders.
I do not see Kitchen display.
It needs the Floor module. Turn both on in Modules.
